YS-ISI is the young statisticians' group in ISI, which was established in 2010. The YS-ISI is devoted to provide a networking forum for students, post-docs, young researchers and professionals dealing with all fields of statistics, to discuss and share ideas and researches with the statistical community at large. The YS-ISI exists to bring together career-young statisticians around the world and to help support their career development and enjoyment. Everyone interested in statistics is welcome to join, particularly if you're a student or graduated in the last ten years and work in a statistics related area.
We will facilitate various activities to enhance communication between members and community such as the regional workshops, the scientific program at a meeting, the short courses and the social events. The ISI Young Statisticians Committee (YS-ISI) – in collaboration with the ESBE community of Indonesia, hosted a webinar last May 9, 2020 with the theme: “COVID-19: from a Statistical Point of View”. This webinar aims to promote collaboration among the young statisticians of ISI and to contribute to the current situation of the world today.
The registration started on May 4, 2020 and ended on May 6, 2020 with 27 organizers and 1,541 registered participants coming from Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, India, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Tanzania, Turkey and United Kingdom. This webinar was hosted through ZOOM webinar and was sponsored by the University of the Philippines and University of the Philippines Los Baños. The total ZOOM attendees were 524 while YouTube viewers reached 2,326.

The International Association for Official Statistics (IAOS) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2020 IAOS Young Statisticians Prize
(YSP). This international prize, which is designed to encourage more young statisticians to take an active interest in official statistics, is
awarded for the best paper in the field of official statistics written by a young statistician.
In addition to a monetary prize, the first-place winner will receive travel funds to present his/her paper at the IAOS Conference that will be held
in Livingstone, Zambia, from 19 th - 21 st May 2020.

The IPS are central to the success of the Congress and therefore the ISI tries to ensure that the IPS are of high quality. The above sessions have been proposed keeping this in mind and are targeted towards early career statisticians who would benefit from knowledge regarding the best practices in data visualization and innovative applications of statistics in the areas of pattern recognition and biometric security.
The YS-ISI invites applications from young statisticians interested in delivering a talk in any one of above sessions. Interested speakers are requested to contact the Chair of the YS-ISI, Han-Ming Wu, at hmwu@gm.ntpu.edu.tw with the following information: name of session, title of talk, name of speaker, email, affiliation, and a short abstract of the talk.
